Barry Scott leaving Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver

Event Details

Thanks to Cindy Baucom for this piece of news:

Barry Scott will be leaving Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver at the end of this year. Barry has been singing, and playing bass, with Doyle for nine years this Thanksgiving. While he has enjoyed every minute of it, he says he is burnt out on music and needs a change. We don’t know what is next for Barry, but we’re sure he’ll be spending some time with his family after being on the road full time.

I called and spoke with Suzanne Lawson this morning and she said they are saddened to see Barry leave, but wish him the best in his future endeavors. She said Doyle won’t try to replace Barry. Rather, he will seek to fill the vacancy in the band.

You just can’t replace someone in a band like this. Barry has unique talents and skills, everyone does. In Doyle’s band it’s really about the singing. Doyle will find someone to fill the post and then use their talents to enhance the overall band sound.

Over the years Doyle has seen a number of band member changes and yet the band has retained his trademark sound of fine harmony singing and great timing. We see no reason to suspect otherwise this time around. So while we’ll miss Barry, we look forward to hearing a lot of great singing from DL&Q in the future.
