Nashville bluegrass artist Ashby Frank had a big weekend. On Friday, July 3, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut under his own name. He’s played on the Opry stage dozens of times, but always in a supporting role, so it was an extra treat to perform his own music there.
Frank got the full Opry debut treatment, with his own parking sign and stage interview, not to mention a lively set with an all-star band.
With Ashby on mandolin and lead vocals, he had Russ Carson on banjo, Seth Taylor on guitar, Jim VanCleve on fiddle, Travis Anderson on bass, and Jaelee Roberts singing harmony.
He shared a few words about the experience.
“Friday at the Opry was absolutely incredible. They really roll out the red carpet for Opry debuts, especially during the ‘Opry 100’ celebration. From the security and backstage staff, stage crew, all the way to the management, I couldn’t imagine a better experience. It’s also really cool that this coincides with the release of my new album Run This Town that comes out on July 17.
I am so grateful for my incredible musician friends Seth Taylor, Jaelee Roberts, Russ Carson, Jim VanCleve, and Travis Anderson. The stars really aligned to allow them to be in Nashville, and I’m so thankful that they were willing to perform with me on that special occasion. Still on cloud nine!”
Congratulations Ashby!
