Another Brown County Bluegrass Festival is in the books, and it was a good one! Sunny and warm for the whole week! The Ol’ Hippie, Jerry Eicher, and Terri Grannis shared the MC duties. Lucy and Luke Lindblom kept the sound system at its best. Contact them if you need sound for a festival.
Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road opened the Friday show. Lorraine said that she is not used to the “breakfast set.” She said next time she will have donuts and muffins! Adam Burrows is filling in for Warren Blair as he recovers from illness.
Kauffman Road is an Ohio-based band. Three of the members trade singing lead. This always makes for good entertainment. See them if they are in your area.
Catahoula Dive performed for two days at the festival. This group gives full measure of bluegrass and gospel music. They pay homage to the Bluegrass Cardinals with some of their songs. Jody Elmore of Breaking Grass filled in on bass for the weekend. Put these guys on your must-see list.
Junior Sisk Is doing his “retirement” tour. He has gathered a group of young musicians that fit his style very well. Junior is bringing back many of his early tunes that make for a nice trip down memory lane.
The Edgar Loudermilk Band is the host band for the festival. They closed out the festival on Saturday night. Banjo player, Eddie Hoyle, has been on vacation. Ian Tronsen has filled in on a couple of the band’s dates.
Harbourtown opened the Saturday show. Two of the members, Dana Cupp and Jeremie Cole, are Southeast Michigan Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Honor members. Jeremie is the promoter of the Marshall Bluegrass Festival.
The Caleb Daugherty Band is always a festival favorite. Seldom Scene’s Ron Stewart filled in on banjo. Caleb does a good mix of traditional bluegrass and country.
Authentic Unlimited hit the Brown County stage wide open. They do mostly original music from Eli Johnston and Jerry Cole. Jerry said his song catalog contains 593 songs!!
Brian Holbrooks joined Harbourtown and did a clawhammer banjo tune. Jeremie presented a first aid kit to a gal that apparently is somewhat accident prone – especially around the band!
Edgar, Lorraine, and Allen thanked everyone for being supporters of bluegrass music.
