Kentucky’s Belles of Blue have finally released a recorded version of one of their most requested songs.
Out today on Sound Biscuit Records is Hebrew Children, the familiar story from the Book of Daniel where three Jewish men were sentenced to die in a fiery furnace for refusing to bow down to idols. But God preserved them, even when King Nebuchadnezzar ordered the flames to be intensified for their defiance. It’s many people’s favorite Old Testament narrative, with its message that the same God who saved Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego still offers protection to those who believe in Him.
The Belles are a pair of sisters from the Ozarks, now living in the Bluegrass State, who write and sing spirited bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music. Nancy Decker wrote Hebrew Children, plays guitar, and sings the lead, supported by Dollie Slayton on bass and harmony vocals. The sisters receive further support from Jerry Woodard on mandolin, Avery Welter on guitar, Anysley Porchak on fiddle, Daniel Norton on reso-guitar, and Sharry Lovan on harmony vocal.
Nancy delivers this classic tale with passion, and the family harmony puts it over the top.
