The DC Bluegrass Union, the Capitol area’s bluegrass membership organization, is convening on Sunday, June 14, to celebrate one of their own, Randy Barrett.
Randy is a banjo player, singer, songwriter, and book publisher who has been crucial in the leadership of the DCBU, and is the current President of the Bluegrass Country Radio Foundation, which continues the radio service at BluegrassCountry.org that was once hosted by WAMU FM.
His publishing company, Barcroft Books, has released a pair of bluegrass titles, On Banjo: Recollections, Licks, and Solos with Ben Eldridge, and the Tim O’Brien Songbook.
Everyone is invited to join them at the Hope Flower Farm Winery in Waterford, VA from noon to 4:00 p.m on Sunday. Music will be provided by Big Howdy (Barrett’s band) and Tornado Rose, and jamming is encouraged.
There is no charge for this DCBU event, and if you’re not a member, it would be a fine opportunity to sign up!
Congratulations Randy!
