Another romance blooms within the Burnett Sisters Band!

Fiddler and vocalist Anissa Burnett and guitarist/vocalist Geary Allen are engaged to be married.

Anissa, a native of Boone, NC, and Geary, from Minster in England, first met at a rehearsal while they were new members of the Tennessee Bluegrass Band in 2023. Allen had just flown in from the UK and was severely jet-lagged, but the two quickly became friends, and started dating a few months later.

Burnett describes their engagement moment as nearly ideal.

“Our proposal was perfect! On Monday, April 27, the morning after a long drive home from Alabama with the Burnett Sisters Band, Geary planned a sunset picnic on the VA campus across from our workplace, East Tennessee State University. It was private, quiet, and beautiful!”

No date has been set for their big day, but they plan to be married during the summer of 2027.

We wish Geary and Anissa the very best of luck, and our sincere congratulations!

This marks the second successful romance within the band, as older sister Kathleen, who once played guitar with the group, and Colin Ray, who played both banjo and guitar, were engaged in 2020, and married the following year. They now perform together as Colin & Kathleen.
