Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra Plays Bluegrass

Event Details

Curtis BurchBowling Green, KY is home to Shakertown and the Shaker Museum. This past weekend a celebration took place. Hoedown at Shakertown celebrated the 200th anniversary of Shakertown.

The celebration included music performed by the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra along with Grammy Award winning dobro player, Curtis Burch. They played several of Curtis’ tunes along with some traditional Shaker melodies, and other period pieces.

The concert took place on a stage built on the foundation of the old Shaker meeting house, a place where the Shakers themselves would have listened to music.

I always find it fascinating, and encouraging, when bluegrass musicians stretch themselves and the music by joining with musicians of other genres to produce something special. Way to go Curtis!
