Event Details

DCBU Presents John Starling & Carolina Star

The nonprofit DC Bluegrass Union will present the legendary John Starling and his band Carolina Star on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 7 pm at the James Lee Theater. The theater is located at 2855-A Annandale Road, Falls Church, VA 22042. Tickets are $15 and $20 and can be preordered by calling 703-916-0655.

John Starling is a titan in national bluegrass circles for his groundbreaking lead singing with the Seldom Scene in the 1970s. His rich, evocative baritone set the standard for a generation of performers and it remains unparalleled today. Along with former Scene mates, Mike Auldridge (dobro) and Tom Gray (bass), John has put together a top-flight band that also includes Rickie Simpkins (fiddle) and Jimmy Gaudreau (mandolin). Earlier this year, Starling released Slidin’ Home, his first album in more than a decade. The show will be opened by the Lisa Kay Band.

The DC Bluegrass Union is a nonprofit 501 c(3) arts association dedicated to promoting bluegrass music and education in the greater Washington area. You can find out more about us at www.dcbu.org.
