Jim Hurst with Dawg and son

Event Details

Jim Hurst is on the west coast, where last week he spent some time rehearsing and recording for a new album with David Grisman and his son Sam. Jim is a two-time winner of the IBMA Guitar Player of the Year award, former member of Claire Lynch’s band, and a popular solo performer and studio musician.

He tells us that this new outfit is one that David dreamed up, which will bill as the David Grisman FolkJazz Trio featuring Jim Hurst and Samson Grisman. One presumes that Grisman senior will be on mandolin, with junior on bass.

The new trio will debut this evening (3/9) at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, CA. Should be a good’n.
