More on the Guinness record attempt at Galax in August

Event Details

The Galax Old Fiddlers Convention has created a Facebook page, and a page on their official web site, to help get the word out about the Guinness World Record attempt at the festival this summer.

On Tuesday, August 7, mandolinists are encouraged to meet at 1:00 p.m. at the main stage to see if Galax can beat the existing record for the largest mandolin ensemble, set at 383 in Germany 7 years ago. You needn’t be a skilled player, just capable of picking out the melody or strumming along on these four tunes:

Old Joe Clark (A)
Cripple Creek (A)
Angeline the Baker (D)
Soldier’s Joy (D)

The Galax folks ask that anyone interested in participating make a point of getting to the stage area a little before 1:00. Best of luck!
