Long Way Around from The Del McCoury Band

Del McCoury Band

Big news in the bluegrass world – a new single from The Del McCoury Band.

It’s one called Long Way Around, written by jam grass hero Larry Keel, who has contributed a number of songs to Del over the years. The lyrics share the need to reflect on how much you’ve been given, and to not get too far ahead of yourself.

McCoury says it fits right in with his own philosophy.

“I’ve always tried to pick songs I believe in. And this is one of them. It’s simple. Take your time and be thankful for the day you had. That’s enough for me.”

Del, as ever, plays guitar and sings lead, supported by his sons Rob on banjo and Ronnie on mandolin, along with Alan Bartram on bass and Christian Ward on fiddle.

They turn in a nice, medium-tempo grasser, executed by one of the best bands ever assembled.

Have a listen.

Long Way Around is available now from popular download and streaming services online.
