New Cluck Old Hen video from Alison Brown & Steve Martin (featuring Della Mae)

Event Details

Steve Martin and Alison Brown

Banjo funny man Steve Martin is back with a new video, shot in Brooklyn with Alison Brown at a folk club called Jalopy, where Della Mae just happened to be playing. So, of course, they are part of the video as well.

It’s for a new song Steve wrote, or perhaps we should say, adapted, with new lyrics for an old time standard, resulting in New Cluck Old Hen. The song is included on Alison and Steve’s current Compass Records project, Safe, Sensible, and Sane, and once you see it, you’ll understand that it was simply crying out for a video treatment.

Martin is a consumate performer, whether he is telling jokes, acting a role, putting on his haughty and snide comedy persona, or playing his banjo. Here we see him doing most of those, with a powerful backing band in Della Mae.

Enjoy!

New Cluck Old Hen, and the full Safe, Sensible and Sane album, are available now from popular download and streaming services online. The album is also offered on audio CD and vinyl directly from Compass.
