Free Bluegrass Backing Tracks

Free Bluegrass Backing TracksBanjo player Simon Mitchinson has launched a new web site offering free backing tracks for bluegrass musicians who need a resource for practicing their instruments. At present he has 72 jam favorites posted, mostly banjo and fiddle tunes, in a variety of keys.

He has also provided a slow down option where any of the provided tracks can be reduced or increased in speed by 5% increments, plus a slow jam section where 18 of the tracks are posted at a much slower tempo for beginning pickers. Another section allows the user to upload their own audio files to the site to be slowed down.

A separate tab on the site offers extended chord tracks where a G, C, D, A, or E chord is played for several minutes, plus some standard chord progressions familiar tin bluegrass

Mitchinson also invites folks to contact him with any song or tune suggestions they would like to see included on the site. He says that he has created all this as a labor of love, to help other pickers trying to master acoustic instruments.

There is no charge to access these tracks, though there is a link to make donations via PayPal.

Hats off to Simon for making his work available to others!
