Yonder Mountain String Band in Charlottesville

Milo Farineau, one of our favorite photojournalists, sent along another fabulous set of images from last night’s (2/16) Yonder Mountain String Band concert in Charlottesville, VA.

As we have mentioned in the past, Milo is working on a photo book project on music festivals, with an emphasis on bluegrass. He is collaborating with Chester Simpson, an experienced photojournalist whose credits include Rolling Stone and USO.

If you look closely, you’ll see that banjo man Dave Johnston is wearing a splint on his right hand. That can’t be good. Dave explains…

“Basically, I took a spill at home and tried to break my fall. It does affect my playing insofar as it limits what I can do comfortably, and I have to be pretty well aware if anything starts to hurt. But there is a silver lining: my touch has lightened up considerably and I have a much more relaxed hand. Weird.”

Milo also shoots for The Hook, a weekly paper published in Charlottesville, VA.

Thanks for letting us share these with our readers!
