Neil V. Rosenberg, celebrated bluegrass scholar and co-author of the seminal discography of Bill Monroe, The Music of Bill Monroe, with Charles K. Wolfe, published in 2007 by the University of Illinois Press, has released an official set of Additions and Corrections to the book online.
They are published on Rosenberg’s Google site, which also contains a wealth of information about his career as a scholar and author, including his many books, essays he has contributed to publications, and he has written. Among these are the ones he has written for Bluegrass Today.
Corrections to the Monroe discography are separated by chapter, with page, paragraph, and line notes to make them easy to find. The Additions include only four entries, but they, like the Corrections, are essential for anyone studying what is contained in The Music of Bill Monroe.
It is recommended to anyone with a copy of the book that they should print out these notes and keep them together.
Neil begins with this Note of Thanks:
In the years since 2007, when The Music of Bill Monroe was published, I’ve received communications from many who’ve read it. Some have provided corrections, clarifications, and additions. I thank them for their contributions to this update of the volume.
I’m particularly indebted to Tom Ewing, author of Bill Monroe: The Life and Music of the Blue Grass Man (Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 2018), who read the lists of corrections and additions as I prepared them and made many useful suggestions. Finally, I’m indebted to Thomas A. Adler for helping make this list into what I hope is a useful and accessible document.

Another note of import: It appears that those with Google domain email accounts may be restricted in their access to the Rosenberg site. Simply log out of your Google account if this occurs, and you should be able to reach the documents.
Many thanks to Tom Adler for helping make these important edits available online.
