Prism closes doors

Event Details

The HooK, a weekly paper in Charlottesville, VA, is reporting that The Prism Coffeehouse has closed it’s doors.

The April 22, 2006 show featuring Jay Unger and Molly Mason was the last to be held in the historic music hall. The Westminster Church, which is the landlord of the Prism”s Charlottesville location, said last week that the church had already lined up a new tenant. There is no word yet of what the new tenant plans for the location.

The “open letter” mentioned in The Hook article no longer appears on The Prism website, or at least I couldn’t find it.

I myself saw several shows at The Prism over the last couple of years, and performed there one time. The Prism was a great small venue for bluegrass and acoustic music and I’m sure it will be missed.
