Phil Leadbetter, bluegrass music’s beloved Uncle Phil, today received some most unwelcome news.
“I have not been diagnosed yet, but after many scans and bloodwork, my cancer doc is pretty sure I have Lymphoma. I will be having surgery in a couple of weeks to remove some lymph nodes to tell me which kind it is. I never expected this… us musicians think we are always going to be OK.
I was an unprepared dummy with no insurance. I was a nurse for over 10 years…. think I would have known better.
Please keep my family in your prayers.”
Sounds like the bluegrass community will need to rally ’round for Phil, as I’m sure we will.
