New Bee-Liners unveiled

Event Details

The Dixie Bee-Liners have announced some fresh new faces in the band for 2011, with a decided East Tennessee flavor.

On banjo will be Zachary Mongan, a student in the ETSU Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music program. Zachary attends on a Grey Fox Bill Vernon Scholarship, which he was awarded in 2008.

Sara Needham, who is playing fiddle, is a recent ETSU graduate. During her time in Johnson City, she studied with legendary fiddler Tater Tate. Sara will also share in the vocal duties in the band.

Sara’s sister, Leah Needham, will also perform with the Bee-Liners on resonator guitar and vocals, as her class schedule at ETSU allows.

These three young grassers join DBL founders Barndi Hart on guitar and vocals, and Buddy Woodward on mandolin and vocals. Sav Sankaran returns as well on bass.

The 2011 edition of the band starts touring this weekend, with shows up and down the eastern seaboard scheduled for this year. Find all their tour dates on the official Dixie Bee-Liner web site.
