More bluegrass at Kickstarter – Della Mae

Here’s another bluegrass artist using Kickstarter to help raise funds for a recording project.

This time it’s Della Mae, based in Boston, who are hoping that fans, friends and interested patrons of the bluegrass arts will pledge a total of $8000 of their projected $16,000 budget.

Della Mae released a short-form EP in 2010, and have since reshuffled their lineup, dropped the trusty five-string from their stage show, and started work on a debut full-length album, to be titled I Built This Heart.

All four of these ladies are accomplished artists in their own right, having gained experience and notoriety separately before coming together as a group. Celia Woodsmith is on guitar, Kimber Ludiker on fiddle, Jenni Lyn Gardner on mandolin and Amanda Kowalsi on bass.

They do a fine job of making their own case in this video created for the Kickstarter campaign.

To date they have raised $2500 of the $8000 goal. You can see all the details, including donor premiums, by visiting their Kickstarter page online.
