Lilly Of The West in Budapest

Here’s a video for those who still think European pickers can’t play hard-hitting traditional bluegrass music.

That’s Lilly Of The West performing at The Slovak Cultural Centre in Budapest, Hungary last week. The band is fronted by Bulgarian singer Lilly Drumeva with Lubos Yurkovic on guitar, Michal Barok on mandolin, Peter Szabados on resonator guitar, Richard Cifersky on banjo and Anton Naroda on bass. That’s actually not her regular touring group, but instead a band of Slovak pickers assembled for this show.

The video also proves that even though Lilly’s last CD, Time After Time, featured mostly pop and folk material, she hasn’t abandoned bluegrass music at all.

You can see more videos from this June 19 performance in Budapest on Lilly’s YouTube channel.
