Katy Daly at ROMP

Our good friend Katy Daley from WAMU’s Bluegrass Country is at the 2010 River Of Music Party (ROMP) in Owensboro, KY. ROMP is sponsored by the International Bluegrass Music Museum.

She sent along a number of photos she took with her phone, and a brief report of the goings on in O’boro.

“The mission of the IBMM is to develop and maintain an environment in which people of all ages can discover the richness of bluegrass music. And one of the best ways they do it is by bringing together bluegrass pioneers and today’s musicians through interviews and concerts held at the museum in downtown Owensboro and on the festival stage at Yellow Creek Park, not far out of town.

The Whites with Phil Leadbetter and Doc Watson & David Holt were the evening’s entertainment at a concert at RiverPark. Curly Seckler made a guest appearance with the Whites.  Curly was celebrating his 75th anniversary in the music. Earlier at a gala dinner reception, IBMA executive director Dan Hays gave a short speech about the 2009 Hall of Fame Inductees and the plaques were presented to the museum.”
