Introducing The Roys

The Roys are the most recent artists to sign with Rural Rhythm Records. Lee and Elaine Roy are brother-and-sister duet partners with a rich bluegrass heritage, which they employ alongside more contemporary Americana and country influences.

A new Rural Rhythm project, Lonesome Whistle, is due in March of 2011, with a first single hitting on January 3. Both Roys are talented vocalists, but each has a distinctive voice of their own. Their harmonies are lovely and the three songs previewed on their web site show them to be terrific songwriters as well.

This introductory video explains who they are, and how their music sounds.

Lonesome Whistle was recorded at Ricky Skaggs’ studio, using his band along with Randy Kohrs on resonator guitar. After working with Kentucky Thunder in the studio, fiddler Andy Leftwich told Lee and Elaine…

“You are bluegrass vocalists. You are made for this format, it is who you are. This record is going to be huge because you guys are just so new and refreshing to the bluegrass community. You are going to be a household name!”

High praise, that.
