I’m Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail from Kenny Feinstein with Michael Daves

Here’s a bit of bi-coastal grass from Sound Biscuit Records.

West coast artist Kenny Feinstein, he of the Water Tower band, has hooked up with New England guitarist and vocalist Michael Daves, for a new single that reprises an old favorite, I’m Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail. They perform the song duet style, with more than a nod to the old time way.

Kenny explained a bit about how he chose to recut this standard, written by Karl Davis and Harty Taylor.

“I fell in love with the Kitchen Tapes by Red Allen and Frank Wakefield. The raw vibe of them playing together in such a candid moment really struck me.

Getting to duet with a hero of mine, Michael Daves, really meant a lot to me.”

With Feinstein on mandolin and lead vocal and Daves on tenor vocal, they offer up a solid representation of the bluegrass music of the 1950s and ’60s.

Check it out.

I’m Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct or Get It Played.
