- March 4, 1923 James Wilson ‘Chick’ Stripling was born in Tifton, Georgia. *
- March 4, 1943 Bill and Carolyn Monroe paid $11000 cash for a 44-acre farm on Dickerson Road, Nashville.
* Stripling, a veteran Georgia fiddler and comic, was with the band only a few months during 1947.
He also worked for a time with The Stanley Brothers, and on the Old Domionion Barn Dance, broadcast from Richmond, VA on WRVA.
