IBMA 2010 showcase acts

The International Bluegrass Music Association has announced the list of artists invited to official showcases during the 2010 World of Bluegrass in Nashville (9/27-10/2).

These acts are given the opportunity to perform during prime times during IBMA week, and have been selected by a special committee, chosen for their particular interest to the bluegrass world and their likelihood to take advantage of this added attention.

Congratulations to everyone who made the cut!

Another six artists will be announced shortly for label-sponsored showcases that occur during the same time as the invited showcase performances.

Wow — that list is safer than a Volvo. Funny how an art form born out of maverick innovation now seems to enforce and even celebrate such conservative fare…Claire Lynch is a brilliantly individual talent, of course, but she’s already well-known to this audience.
