Great photos from Doyle Lawson fest

Mike Lane shot some great photos at the recent Doyle Lawson festival in Denton, NC last month. He captured many of the bands performing on the show, including Lost and Found, Dale Ann Bradley, Lonesome River Band, Dailey & Vincent, Grasstowne and Seldom Scene.

The most fun for me were the pictures of the original Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver reunion show featuring Doyle with Terry Baucom, Jimmy Haley and Lou Reid. To my ear, this band rocked the bluegrass world in the early 1980s much as the 1975 edition of JD Crowe & the New South had done a few years earlier. Both bands are still actively touring and recording, and have left a permanent mark on the way the music will be played going forward.

Terry, Doyle, Jimmy and Doyle still look great, but compare the photo above with this cover from 1981. My how times change!

Mike graciously allowed us to include the live reunion shot here on Bluegrass Today. Prints of his many photos from Denton – and his entire collection of bluegrass images – can be ordered from his web site.
