Edgar’s fish fry always draws a big crowd on Wednesday evening at the Brown County Bluegrass Festival. The crew fried fish, hush puppies, and smelt. Many of our readers may not know what smelt are. They are a small fish that migrate up streams in northern Michigan in the spring. “Smelt dipping” is a popular spring adventure. Dippers fill garbage cans with the small fish. The Ol’ Hippie, Jerry Eicher, supplied the smelt. Edgar Loudermilk brought the fish and mixed up the hush puppies. Nobody left hungry!

The Fish Fry Band provided the entertainment.

The stage show begins tomorrow afternoon with local bands New Mountain Heritage and Won Peace. Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road, The Lonesome River Band, and Hammertowne round out the day.
