Brett Smeltzer back to Stoney Creek

Event Details

Stoney CreekWest Virginia’s Stoney Creek has announced the return of Brett Smeltzer to the band on mandolin and vocals.

He had left the group in 2012 after 4 years of service to launch the Bluegrass Retrospect radio program online. The show airs each Sunday afternoon at The Bluegrass Mix.

Brad said that he jumped at the chance to rejoin Stoney Creek.

“Our Hot Off The Press and Live In Concert CDs were getting worldwide airplay and to me that was monumental. I wanted to stay involved with bluegrass music and the door was open to be a hosting DJ on the Bluegrass Mix. I was very eager to give it a try. My first live broadcast of Bluegrass Retrospect aired on October 21, 2012. I felt that I could ‘pay it forward’ and have area bluegrass talents aired as part of my show’s playlist. My show mixes vintage as well as new releases by mainstream and area bluegrass artists.

As much as I enjoy my online DJing with the Bluegrass Mix, I still missed playing music. When Libby approached me with the offer to rejoin the band … it was an easy decision to make.

I am excited and looking forward to playing music once again.”

Smeltzer joins Ed Barney on guitar, Darrell Sanders on banjo, and Libby Files on bass.
