Gravy Records has announced the signing of Knoxville, TN old time music group Blue Ridge Gathering to the label.
The trio comes with some impressive credentials, winning the top prize in the neo-traditional competition last year at the Appalachian String Band Music Festival in Clifftop, WV. They also came away from Clifftop with the Best original song award in 2023, and Best Original Instrumental in 2024. The FreshGrass Band Contest last year named them as one of the top three finalists.
Blue Ridge Gathering consists of Duck Ryan on guitar, Jessica Watson on banjo, and Cody Bauer on fiddle.
They are quite comfortable with the neo-traditional style tag, as their specialty is writing and performing original music in the old time way.
Bauer says that they are delighted to join Gravy’s roster.
“We are thrilled to announce that Blue Ridge Gathering is officially partnering with Gravy Records. We are deeply honored by the trust they’ve placed in us, and look forward to a creative and successful collaboration.
We can’t wait to share what’s in the works!”
Work on a new album is set to begin this spring at the Sound Biscuit Studios in Sevierville, TN.
Sound Biscuit owner Dave Maggard, who will be producing the album, says that they think quite highly of this bunch.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with Blue Ridge Gathering. They bring a very distinct sound and a clear vision to their music.
I’ve always appreciated artists who think a little outside the box, and that’s exactly what this group brings to the table—along with top-tier musicianship, vocals, and songwriting.
We’re proud to welcome them to Gravy Records.”
Gravy Records is a subsidiary of Sound Biscuit Productions.
