As promised, Mountain Fever Records has quickly released a single from their newest signees, Hammaville, a very strong and promising quartet from Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.
For their debut, the band has chosen Annie’s Heart, written and sung by mandolinist Corey Rackley, with co-writer Lance Seal. It’s the story of a poor country boy heartsick over a girl that lives only a few miles away, but culturally a distance too great to overcome. A sad song, sure, but with that wonderful ability to cheer when put to a bluegrass tune.
Hammaville also includes Daniel Seabolt on guitar, Blaze Hammer on bass, and one of my favorite banjo players for many years, David Caroll, rounding out the lineup. Nathan Aldridge adds fiddle to this track.
See if you don’t agree that this bunch has a bright future in bluegrass.
Annie’s Heart is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct.
