Doug Dillard hospitalized

Event Details

Doug Dillard, popular banjo player and founding member of The Dillards has been hospitalized in Nashville, suffering from a collapsed lung. He will be 74 years old on March 6.

Dillard is in the ICU at Vanderbilt Hospital, but according to a report from his wife, is already feeling much better after being admitted yesterday (2/28). His prognosis is said to be good and he will remain in the hospital until the hole in his lung closes up.

Doug is fondly remembered from his regular appearances as the banjo picking member of the Darlin family on the Andy Griffith Show during the program’s hit run in the 1960s.

We’ll post further details as we learn them.

UPDATE 3/2: This update just in from Vikki Dillard, Doug’s wife.

“Doug is making great progress. Off of Ventilater now . Doing Better. Hope to hear more progress reports today. Thank you for all your prayers.”
