Cahalen Morrison & Eli West

Event Details

The Holy Coming Of The Storm is the title of the new CD from Seattle’s Cahalen Morrison & Eli West on Hearth Music.

It’s an interesting mix of bluegrass and old time influences with Morrison primarily on clawhammer banjo and West playing guitar in a grassy style. The two share a passion for both musical forms, especially the sort of quirky syncopation they have in common.

The album was recorded live in the studio, produced by Matt Flinner who also provides some instrumental support on mandolin, bouzouki and tenor guitar. Eric Thorin also guests on bass, as does Ryan Drickery on fiddle, and Aaron Youngberg on 3 finger banjo.

You can get a feel for their approach in this video, shot live at a Harry Smith Tribute show in Seattle. The song is Lost Lovin Gal, the opening track of their album.

You can hear the entire CD at Morrison and West’s bandcamp site.
