Punchers going their separate ways this summer

Event Details

punchersPunch Brothers are taking the summer off for the most part, with several members using the time to tour on their own. The band has but three shows scheduled as a group: at the Spoleto Festival in May, and at Telluride and ROMP in June.

Chris Thile will be working a string of dates with jazz pianist Brad Mehldau starting this weekend, followed by a tour with Michael Daves in May. Then in August he will be appearing in concert with Goat Rodeo Sessions, with some Fall solo dates in the UK.

For banjo man Noam Pikelny, it’s a tour this month with an all-star show billed as An Evening of Bluegrass with Bryan Sutton, Ronnie McCoury, Luke Bulla & Barry Bales, then a number of dates with Tim O’Brien.

Paul Kowert, Punch Brothers’ talented young bass player, has embarked on a tour with fiddler Brittany Hass and guitarist Jordan Tice. They are in California now, with east coast dates starting in June.

Chris Eldridge is in the studio with fellow guitarist Julian Lange, with a duo tour set for August.

More details on all these shows can be found at the Punch Brothers’ web site.
