Russ Carson gets the nod

Event Details

Russ Carson with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder

When we reported in March that Russ Carson had been picked as the new banjo picker with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, we noted that he officially was coming on board on a 90 day trial basis.

Those of us well familiar with his playing and his personality never doubted that Russ would make the grade, and pass the trial without incident.

And now it’s official. Russ tells us that Ricky called yesterday with the news, shaving 30 days off the trial period and welcoming him as a full member of Kentucky Thunder.

For Carson, it’s been a dream come true.

“Working for Ricky has been beyond life changing. There is such a vast amount I can learn not only from Ricky, but from everyone in Kentucky Thunder. This is just the beginning of a very exciting new chapter in my life. I can’t wait to see what happens next!”

Congratulations to Russ – and to Ricky!
