John Hickman hospitalized

Event Details

John HickmanWhen it rains, it pours…

We posted last month about the fundraising appeal for banjo legend John Hickman and his wife Susie, hoping to raise money to fix his roof and make a number of needed structural repairs on their house. The great news is that has exceeded its goal of $10,000, and work on the house is set to begin soon.

The bad news is that John has fallen and broken a hip, which at 72 years of age can be a major concern. But John is expected to undergo surgery today at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, so I’m sure all his many friends, fans, and admirers will be sending prayers and well wishes for a quick recovery.

Let’s hope that he comes home healthy to a newly renovated house.

Bluegrass Today readers may enjoy this video produced by KFOR NewsChannel 4 in Oklahoma City about John and Susie’s plight.

Donations are still being accepted through GoFundMe online.
