The Buck Stops Here

Event Details

The Buck Stops HereGailanne Amundsen has been making a name for herself in bluegrass and old time music for much of her short life, winning fiddle competitions as a child in Florida, and more recently as a member of Jubal’s Kin.

Her musical efforts now center around The Buck Stops Here, a new band she has put together with three other young women along the east coast to explore their own original music as well as traditional tunes. In something of a twist, the group features both three finger and clawhammer banjo, along with fiddle, guitar, and upright bass and three and four part harmony.

Their self-titled debut album includes 15 tracks engineered and mixed by Erick Jaskowiak, running the span of folk and roots music. Joining Gailanne are Julie Chiles on fiddle and guitar, Shona Carr on tenor guitar and banjo, Rebecca Branson Jones on banjo and percussion, and Jeffrey Amundsen on bass.

Several of the songs from the record have also been released on YouTube, including this one, Shona’s Will Of The Waves.

All of the tracks can be heard on The Buck Stops Here’s bandcamp site.
