New hip for Kevin Prater

Event Details

Kevin Prater

Kevin Prater, Kentucky bluegrass singer, songwriter and band leader, is expected to return home today following hip replacement surgery yesterday. Prater had his right hip replaced at Pikeville Medical  Center in Pikeville, KY.

His agent, Stacey Wright, tells us that the surgery went well and that the hospital staff had Kevin up and walking last night. He expects to be able to make his next show February 6 in Nashville.

In addition to touring with the band, Kevin runs Sound Maker’s Studio in Belcher, KY. He chose January for his surgery and recovery to coincide with the slow time in bluegrass music.

He also has a new album, Walking Rails & Counting Ties, due for release in the very near future.
