Event Details

This report is a contribution from Martino Coppo, mandolinist and vocalist with Italy’s Red Wine. Each year they host a themed show where they live in northern Italy called Red Wine Bluegrass Party, and Martino sends along some photos and a description.

Red Wine Bluegrass Party #8, Bluegrass & Songwriters (11/26/16)The Red Wine Bluegrass Party #8, “Bluegrass & Songwriters,” at Teatro della Tosse in Genova last Saturday November 26, was a big success!

For this year program we put together a blend of songs written by some of the greatest songwriters we love and admire, many of whom with very limited or no connection with bluegrass music. These included Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Norman Blake, Steve Young, Jim Lauderdale, Brad Davis and Liz Meyer, as well as originals from our special guest Irish songwriter Shane Sullivan and our banjo man Silvio Ferretti.

Red Wine Bluegrass Party #8 in Genoa (11/26/16)We’d like to thank all the amazing musicians who took part, Shane Sullivan guitar and vocals, Davide ‘Zazza’ Zalaffi drums, Paolo Ercoli dobro and pedal steel, Fabio Biale fiddle, Roberto Bongianino accordion, Francesco Bellia keyboards and Pierrette Berentzen vocals.

A special thank also to our photographer, scenographer and co-producer Stefano Goldberg, our general manager and co-producer Ester Baessato, and to our additional photographers Paola Zucchi and Giovanna Cavallo for the attached pictures.

We’ve already started working on The Bluegrass Party #9 for 2017!
