Thursday at the Florida Bluegrass Classic was kicked off with Brink Brinkman doing a songwriting workshop. He explained his methodology for writing alone and co-writing.
The afternoon continued with a Classic Country Roundup Sing-a-long. Calvin Mickey, promoter of the Mickey’s Mountain festival in Ohio joined in the singing fun.
Jo Odom assumed her MC duties at the beginning of the evening shows. She is a fixture at most of the Evans Media Source festivals. DJ Greg Bird opened the evening show singing classic country tunes. Gordon and Gail Pike and Maine Grass played a set of traditional bluegrass music. Blue Highway closed out the day as only Blue Highway can. The band is in its 22nd year and working on its 12th recording which will be released later this year. New dobro player, Gaven Largent, has become a rock solid member of the band.
Friday and Saturday bring Wry Whiskey, Nothin’ Fancy, The Gary Waldrep Band, Sideline, and Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road to the Classic stage.
