Last Tuesday at Nashville’s Station Inn, Music City’s favorite traditional country band, 45 RPM, did a show with Rhonda Vincent as featured guest vocalist. It turns out that a lot of bluegrass artists and personalities are fans of the old school country, but I think we all already knew that.
Rhonda grabbed some photos with some of the people in the house and passed them along to share with Bluegrass Today readers. We didn’t get any of them on stage, but from all reports, the show was smoking hot. An unexpected pleasure was having Telecaster legend Redd Volkaert, late of Merle Haggard’s band, join the band for a set.
She said that she had so much fun doing country that she booked another similar date in June.
“I was the special guest singing country music with 45 RPM, which has inspired an evening where I’ll step away from our bluegrass format to sing a set of traditional country music with Daryl Singletary on June 7 at the Time Jumper’s Hot Spot, 3rd and Lindsley.
It was really special to have so many friends join me for a special night with 45 RPM.
An extra special treat was having the legendary Redd Volkaert join me for the evening.”
Rhonda says that after her show with 45 PRM, Redd headed over to play some with the Music City Playboys, where Noam Pikelny showed up to catch his set.
Tickets for the Vincent/Singletary show in June can be purchased now online.
