Ashleigh Graham & Appalachian Highway have released a music video for their latest Pinecastle Records single, Pinewood Prison, a new song from Paula Breedlove and Mark Brinkman.
Graham says that they were fortunate to be able to film the video at the historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros, TN.
“Filming the video for Pinewood Prison at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary was honestly one of the most exciting and unique experiences we’ve ever had as a band.
The moment you walk through those gates, you can feel the history in the walls. There’s an eeriness and a heaviness to the place that you simply couldn’t recreate on a set, and it brought an entirely new dimension to the story we were trying to tell.
Being able to film inside such a legendary and notorious prison was surreal, and there were moments when it felt less like we were making a music video and more like we had stepped right into the story of the song. We took a chance by calling Pete Waddington, of Brushy Mountain Group, LLC, to see if we could get permission to film there and, not only was he agreeable, but went above and beyond to make the facility available to us during the hours when they were closed to tourists.
We are so grateful to him and his staff for this opportunity. I think the authenticity is going to come through on screen, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we created there.”
We see Ashleigh on mandolin and lead vocal, with Steve Wilson on banjo, Jason Fraley on guitar, and Will Potts on bass. Not shown is Glen Crain on reso-guitar.
Check it out.
Pinewood Prison is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct.
