Mountain Faith gets a little help onstage at the March 2016 Newell Lodge Bluegrass Festival - photo by Bill WarrenThe March festival at Newell Lodge in Georgia is now in the books.

The Thursday show was opened by DJ Greg Bird, who was followed by The King Family. Larry Gillis and Swampgrass closed the evening with their mountain bluegrass sound. Larry also kicked off Friday’s show.

Mountain Faith came in from North Carolina for two days of shows. Their appearance on America’s Got Talent last year has put them in high demand. They were followed by another North Carolina band, A Deeper Shade of Blue. Goldwing Express closed out Friday and returned on Saturday.

A local band, Gentle River started the Saturday show and then Mountain Faith and Goldwing Express returned. Some youngsters joined Mountain Faith on stage in the evening. Twin brothers played bass and mandolin with the band and two girls sang with Summer McMahan!

The Claire Lynch Band kept the audience entranced as she closed out the show.

The fall Newell Lodge Bluegrass Festival will be held October 5-9, 2016.

The Newell Lodge Festivals are presented by the Carter family — Harvin, Kay, and Ashley — along with Evans Media Source.
