New Camptown Races video from the Seven Hills Pickers

Event Details

Seven Hills Pickers

Straight from Lisbon in Portugal comes the Seven Hills Pickers, an instrumental trio focused on bluegrass music. Lisbon is famously known as a “city on seven hills,” so the name suits.

They are led by banjoist Andre Dal, who we have met previously here at Bluegrass Today, and completed with Bernardo Fazenda on mandolin and Tomás Alcaso on guitar.

Their new single and video features Bernardo, a Portuguese take on the Frank Wakefield classic, New Camptown Races. A very popular tune for pickers in the US, it’s no surprise to find it attracting the attention of those on the other side of the Atlantic as well.

It’s one of ten songs that will be included on the Seven Hills Pickers’ debut album, set for a June 27 release. Though bluegrass is not well known in Portugal, the band, and the Trafaria Bluegrass Festival, are doing their best to change that.

Enjoy their version of New Camptown Races, as well as some of the sights of Lisbon, in the accompanying music video.

New Camptown Races is available now from popular download and streaming services online. Radio programmers are invited to contact the band through Facebook to obtain an airplay copy of the track.
