Here’s a fun video clip which has made the rounds on the Internet a number of times. It features a seven year old Ricky Skaggs performing with Flatt & Scruggs on their television program. He sings Ruby and plays his mandolin on Earl Scruggs’ normally instrumental version of the song, Reuben.
This clip appears to be taken from a “bootleg” copy of the footage, as the time code appears throughout. Perhaps a subsequent edition of the Flatt & Scruggs DVD collections recently released by Shanachie will include this classic bit of bluegrass history.
