Crandall Creek has a new single, released just before the death of their founder and guitarist, Jerry Andrews, last month. Needless to say, it’s been a trying and emotional time for the band, who are determined to stay together in his honor at least through the end of this year to keep the commitments made for this season.
It’s a song Jerry wrote called Finally Over You, about precisely what the title suggests, which he explained thusly before his passing.
“Finally Over You was written about a girl I’d gone to college with who had tried to hang on to her marriage, even though the guy was not invested, never put anything into the marriage, was never home, and really never did anything to keep it together. She spent seven years trying to hang onto that for the sake of staying married, and finally realized it was never going to work.”
Andrews played guitar on the track, which was sung by the newest member of Crandall Creek, Megan Paullet, with bandmates Dustin Trepanning on banjo, and Sav Nelson on bass. Andy Leftwich provided fiddle and mandolin.
Have a listen in Jerry’s memory.
Finally Over You is available now from popular download and streaming services online, and to radio programmers via AirPlay Direct.
