Following his celebrated retirement from touring at the end of 2021, Doyle Lawson has popped up here and there on stage at festivals and concerts, more as a special guest than a scheduled performer. And audiences have always embraced him warmly when they do get to see him. How could they not after a career spanning nearly 50 years, including stints with such iconic acts as J.D. Crowe & The Kentucky Mountain Boys, The Country Gentlemen, the Bluegrass Album Band, and his own historic group, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver?
In retirement, Lawson keeps at least one toe in the business, producing and building a new record label, Tall Oaks Music. But his glory days running the roads are behind him.
This Saturday, April 11, however, Doyle will be back performing a very special concert with a reassembled Quicksilver in The Pavilion at The Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, Florida. He has put together a stout band made up primarily of former bandmates for what should be a memorable occasion.
Lawson will, of course, be on mandolin, supported by Ben James on guitar, Jessie Baker on banjo, Matt Flake on fiddle, Josh Swift on reso-guitar, and John Meador on bass. There are some mighty strong singers in that bunch, and Doyle will surely have them well rehearsed ahead of time to deliver something he can be proud to call Quicksilver.
Also on the bill are Carson Peters & Iron Mountain, who always deliver an impassioned and professional show.
Tickets are still available online for this special bluegrass event.
