Dewel Bullington passes

Longtime McCormick Brothers fiddler Dewel Bullington passed away on January 9 at the age of 78.

He had spent 55 years working with the McCormicks, with whom he had become a dear and cherished friend.

The Macon County native was born Sept. 23, 1933 to the late Alfred Bullington and Cora Gilliam Bullington. He worked as a salesman. Dewel was a member of Fairfield Masonic Lodge #553 and the Portland VFW. He was a member of the Bluegrass Hall of Fame in Owensboro, Ky. and a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians in Nashville, TN – Local 257. He served in the rank of private in the United States Army.

The family will be available for visitation today (1/11) at the Portland Funeral Chapel in Portland, TN from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. (CST), and again on Thursday from 1:00 – 9:00. The funeral service will be held on Friday (11/13) at 1:00 p.m.
