Declaration of Independence from The Kody Norris Show

The Kody Norris Show

New music today from The Kody Norris Show.

It’s a new fiddle tune written by Mary Rachel Nalley Norris called Declaration of Independence, which kicks off with twin fiddles and a flat ton of energy. Everybody in the band gets a piece as it rolls along at a sprightly pace.

If you haven’t guessed by the song title, their spiffy new star spangled outfits, and their previous single, Spirit of America, the next Kody Norris Show album is a patriotic salute to the USA in its semiquincentennial year. The band is aggressively touring in support all across the fruited plain, sharing their love for their native land and their highly entertaining stage show.

Speaking of this new track, Mary Rachel says…

Declaration of Independence came about several years back after trying to write an instrumental in the key of B. Like many bluegrass bands, we play a lot in that key and often need an instrumental to break things up. We were in Centre Hall, PA on 4th of July weekend in 2023, and without thinking, went straight into the instrumental. The band followed and we named it on the spot, Declaration of Independence.”

Support comes from bandmates Kody Norris on guitar and Charlie Lowman on bass. Mary Rachel plays fiddle and mandolin, with Ron Stewart helping out on banjo. Michael Cleveland plays the second fiddle part, which switches to triple on the ending.

Check it out.

Declaration of Independence is available now from Rebel Records at popular download and streaming services online.
