Dalton Smith, the talented guitarist and vocalist with The Kevin Prater Band, has announced his intention to leave the group once a suitable replacement has been found.

He shared his decision with friends and fans on Facebook:

“The past, what has been almost three years touring with The Kevin Prater Band, has been one of the best experiences of my life. This has not been an easy decision, but I have decided to step down from touring.

Getting to travel the world with one of my bluegrass heroes has truly been a dream come true for me. Kevin is truly the best, and I wish him and the boys the very best! Thank you for believing in me!!

I have learned, and saw so many things while getting to do so. I have been to many states, from Maine to California, several provinces in Canada, and on foreign waters playing bluegrass music. I never thought this ole boy would have gotten out of West Virginia, but God showed me otherwise!!

Some of you might ask, what has influenced this decision? Well as you know I work part time at Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Attraction. I have decided to work full time, and take a break from the road. So I am not done by no means! Just on to the next chapter!

Thank you to everyone for the support and encouragement over the past few years it truly means a lot!!!”

Hope to see Dalton back at festivals again soon.
