CMT launches major talent search

CMT Music City MadnessCMT has just announced a new talent competition, which they are calling Music City Madness. Contestants can enter and upload video performances directly via the CMT/Music City Madness web site and be entered in the competition. Finalists will be chosen by online voting beginning in February 2007, with a winner eventually being selected to travel to Nashville (all expenses paid) to record a segment of CMT’s Studio 330 Sessions.

The contest is open to unsigned artists performing original, unpublished music in any country style. Bluegrass, folk and Americana are specifically mentioned as being sought in this contest.

Music City Madness will coincide with the 2007 NCAA basketball playoffs, commonly described by fans as March Madness – hence the name.

Mirroring the NCAA brackets, 64 entrants will be chosen, with fans narrowing the field each week by online voting. A grand prize winner will be announced in April.

Anyone interested in entering a video can find the contest rules on the Music City Madness web site, where they can also enter online. Once entered, instructions will be sent by email to upload your video.
